AASEN, Sigurd and Ingeborg by Mrs. Harold Bruhn
The family of Sigurd Olsen AASEN moved to a homestead north of Minot in 1896. They had one box-car on the Great Northern Railroad for all their family belongings, one end contained the furniture and boxes of bedding and clothing. The other end contained the farm animals, and the center contained the farm machinery. Sigurd, and his wife, Ingeborg ELLEFSON AASEN, stayed with the animals in the box for the journey from Willmar, Minn. to Minot. The children rode in the coach.
Sigurd was born in Telemarken, Norway and his wife was born in Kandiyohi County, Minn. The five children who came with them to North Dakota were Ole, Tille, Ida, Mina, and Anne. A son, Sinius, was born September 11, 1897, just a year after they moved into their new home in North Dakota.
