Bradley Curtis Farnham was born in Clare County Michigan providing proof that his parent Isaac and Eliz were in the State of Michigan in 1838. Bradley is the 1st born child of his parents. The 1840 US Census shows his parents, grandmother and he are now in Onondaga County (proof by father's name and family member ages). By 1850 he is 12 years old, living at the farm in Otisco and has three siblings: Mehitable, Otis and Juliette. About 1857 he marries Delia Barker and the 1860 US census shows he has two children Osborn age 2 and Curtis age 6/12. He is living in the same dwelling as his father and working as a farm laborer. He enlists Apr 30, 1861 for two years at Syracuse NY and musters in on May 13, 1861 in Elmira NY as a private in Company B, NY 12th Infantry Regiment. His campaign included the Seven Days of Battle before Richmond and later at the Second Battle of Bull Run received a shell wound in the left leg requiring a 7 month hospital stay. He musters out May 17, 1863 with the rank of private in Elmira NY having served 2 years and 17 days. Not too long after returning to his family in Otisco, which now includes daughter Eva born in 1862 he registers for the 1863 Civil War Draft Registration. A few months later in Coldwater Michigan on Feb 27, 1864 he reenlists in the 1st Michigan Light Artillery Battery "A" under Colonel Cyrus Loomis and was discharged July 28, 1865 at Jackson Michigan having served 1 year, 1 month and 1 day. For a period of time he stays in Isabella County, Michigan where he, his brother-in-law John Herring and others are instrumental in the erection of the Township of Vernon. His first marriage resulting in a divorce he marries Mary Ann Smith in 1867 in Isabella Michigan and later returns to NY state the exact date is unknown, however, the Clare Sentinel Michigan posted an article July 14, 1905 telling about his 4 year stay in Vernon Township in the late sixties in this wilderness area.
Bradley and Mary's 1st child Arthur is born in Onondaga County in 1875. The 1875 NYS Census shows Mary and Arthur are staying with her parents Daniel and Harriet Smith in Onondaga County, NY. For a period of time he works as a farm laborer but on June 15 1889 his father Isaac leases his farm of 76.5 acres to Bradley with stipulations on maintenance of the farm and providing care for Isaac and Eliza. The 1892 NYS Census shows Bradley and his family residing at his father's farm who has now retired. On March 16, 1893 his father dies and his will allows Bradley the use of the farm until Bradley's death at which time the farm passes to Isaac's son Otis and daughter Juliette. Census enumerations show Bradley and his wife remain on the farm until about 1913 when he moves to Manlius and resides with his son until his death.
