Lela G. Fields, 92, of Wichita Falls died Saturday, February 12, 2011 at a local hospice. Services have been scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park.

Lela was born December 24, 1918 in Bryan County OK to Aye Boat and Rosettie Carter Everett. She married Rex E. Fields in El Paso, TX in 1937 and they had one daughter. Lela had the distinction of being the first female school bus driver for the Wichita Falls schools. For over 20 years she was a receptionist for Dr. Hubert Stephens. She loved to quilt, crochet, and sew. Everyone in the family had at least one quilt and/or afghan made with her hands. She especially loved to cook big meals at Thanksgiving and other times for her family. Her chocolate and coconut pies will be missed. Lela loved her grandkids and great-grandchildren and was very close to all of them.

Mrs. Fields is preceded in death by her husband, Rex E. Fields in 1977; and parents, Aye and Rosettie Everett.

Survivors include her loving daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Billy Belvin of Iowa Park; sister, Elsie Sidebottom of OK; three grandchildren, Rex Earl Belvin, Cynthia Belvin, Richard Belvin; three great-grandchildren, Rex Leland Belvin, Karea Belvin, Gary Belvin; one great-great-grandchild on the way; and many cousins who were very close to her over the years.

Visitation will be held 1:00-3:00 p.m., Tuesday February 15, 2011 prior to the service at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.
