Barbara Jean Abercrombie Foster, age 87, went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 7, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family in Gautier, Mississippi. She was born on November 2, 1929 in Louisville, Alabama, and has been a resident of Gautier for 61 years. She was a loving and devoted wife to Leroy F. Foster for 60 years. She was a dedicated and active member of First Baptist Church of Gautier since 1956. Barbara, also known as “Mema” , was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother to 3 children, 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. Along with her husband, she cofounded and contributed greatly to the success of Foster’s Heating and Air. She enjoyed gardening and traveling, but most importantly enjoyed being a loving homemaker to her family.

Mrs. Foster is preceded in death by her husband, Leroy F. Foster, her parents, Elijah and Claudia Abercrombie, and her sister, Inez Abercrombie. She is survived by her sister, Opal Blackwell, and three children, Mike (Tracy) Foster, Rex (Amelie) Foster, Nancy (Grant) Randolph; 8 Grand Children Jennifer and Billy Pope, Brad Foster, Shannon and Chip Crocker, Stacy McArthur, Sherri and Brad Germann, Walt Foster, Joey and Amanda Randolph, Bryan and Amanda Randolph); 16 Great Grand Children (Britney (Chris) Penton, Kyle Kirkpatrick, Kailen Pope, Andrew Stokley, Taylor Pope, Jackson McArthur, Emily Randolph, Rex McArthur, Taylor Germann, Avery Randolph, Rachel Randolph, Payton Germann, Cora Randolph, Olivia Randolph, Levi Randolph, Brazel Crocker, Charles Crocker, and Wilson Crocker; 1 Great Great Grand Daughter, Amelie Penton; and her numerous nieces, nephews, large church family, and many dear friends.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 9, 2017, 6 until 8 pm at O’Bryant-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Pascagoula, MS. Funeral Service will be Sunday, September 10, 2017, at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church in Gautier with Bro. David Aultman officiating. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service at the church.

The family would like to thank the many caregivers, Home Instead Senior Care and Southern Hearts Hospice, especially Whitney Richardson, for their faithful and loving dedication and care.

Active pallbearers will be her grandsons, Chip Crocker, Billy Pope, Brad Foster, Walt Foster, Joey Randolph, and friend, Tommy McDaniel. Honorary pallbearers will be her great grandsons.

Interment will follow at Pinecrest Cemetery, Gautier, MS.

Memorials may be made in her memory to The Lottie Moon Mission Fund through her church, First Baptist Church Gautier, as her grandson, Bryan, is a missionary.
