BURLESON - John M. Akin, 71, a retired Fort Worth deputy fire chief, loving husband, father and grandfather, died peacefully in his sleep Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at his farm.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Wednesday in Baumgardner Chapel, Crowley. Burial: Laurel Land Memorial Park, Fort Worth. Visitation: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, Crowley; the family will be present 6 to 8 pm.
John M. Akin was born Feb. 11, 1930, in Leo. He was preceded in death by his son, Johnny Lee; parents, David Lee and Rebecca Velma; brothers, Ralph, T.J., O.A. and David; and sisters, Zannie, Ima Ruth and Peggy.
Survivors: Wife of 47 years, Dolores; daughters, Deborah Coljohn and husband, J.C., of Burleson, and Monica Davis and husband, Jason, of Burleson; sister, Margaret West of Oceanside, Calif.; brothers, Elmer Lynn of Ben Wheeler and Henry of Milwaukee, Ore.; and grandchildren, Jamie, John Paul, Alyssia, Tyler and Shelby.
