WARFORDSBURG, Pa. -- John Andrew Smith, 52, died Tuesday in Washington County Hospital.

Born in Fulton County, Pa., he was the son of the late James F. and Cora E. Ritz Smith.

He was employed in the maintenance department of Grove Manufacturing Co. in Shady Grove, Pa, for 18 months. He was a member of the Buck Valley Zion Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Helen Smith; three daughters, Mrs. Charlotte L. Hess of Warfordsburg, Mrs. Barbara J. Sponsler at home and. Mrs. Elizabeth C. Bowers of Hagerstown; three sons, Andrew N. Smith of Upper Darby, Pa., Joseph L. Smith and McKinley R. Smith, both at home; one sister, Ann Mary Norris of Hancock, Rt. 1; one brother, Francis E. Smith of Needmore, Pa.; and four grandchildren.

Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Rogers Heights Lutheran Church in Hancock. The Rev. Dr. David Hoover Will officiate. Burial will be in Rogers Heights Lutheran cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
