OCEANA — Myrna "Tiny" Acord Walker, 61, of Oceana, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, February 14, 2011, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born July 8, 1949 in Clear Fork, WV, a daughter of the late Robert Lee Acord (1920-1968) & Myrtle Lilly Hager-Acord (1929-1994).
She was the sister of Sylvia Ann Acord-Bragg & husband Danford, Betty Jo Acord-Goodwin & husband Joe, Nancy Carol Acord-Paynter (1951-2015) & husband Benjamin, Virginia Acord-Gladden-Bradley & husband Ronnie, Stallie Acord-Sheppard-Allen & husband Harry, Robert Edward Acord, Mary Helen Acord-George-Hood-Bradley-Lundy & husband Ken, Linda Lou Acord (1955-1955), and Sabrina Acord (1962-1962).
Survivors include her loving husband, Douglas Franklin Walker Sr. (B. 1941) whom she married on June 19, 1964 in Oceana, Wyoming County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Wyoming County, WV, 1964, Page 99, Application Date: June 16, 1964); two sons, Douglas Franklin Walker Jr. (1965-2019) and wife Ruth Ann Stewart-Walker, and Christopher Dean Walker and wife Melissa Walker, all of Oceana, WV; four grandchildren Amanda Ruth Walker of Oceana, WV, Douglas Leander Walker of Valdez, NC, Candy Renee Walker of Oceana, and Chris "CJ" Walker of Oceana; one great grandchild Sarina L. Walker of Valdez, NC.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday February 17, 2011 at Joseph Baptist Church, Lynco, W.Va., with Pastor William Cook officiating. She will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny. Friends may call from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. today, Wednesday February 16, 2011, at the church.
