Resident of Huntington most of her life and for for last 10 years with Mrs. Mary Wood of 736 Poplar St . Mrs. Lela Jackson, 72, died at 5 a.m. Saturday in the Huntington County Hospital where she had been a patient since December 15 when she entered the hospital for tests.
Mrs. Jackson was born November 4, 1894, at Kingsland, Wells County, to Noah and Julia (Nettie) Hildebrand Hare. Her marriage was to Carl B. Jackson on September 12, 1914. He died July 14, 1950.
Surviving are a daughter. Mrs. Clarence (Carol) Smith. Fort Wayne; five grandchildren Craig. Janice, Randy. Bradley and Carla Smith; a brother. Charles Hare. Huntington. and a sister. Mrs. Frank (Opal) Higley, Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Jackson was a member of the United Church of Christ. Congregational Christian.
Friends may call after 7 p.m. Sunday in the Bailey Mortuary where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Chapel with Rev. Gene F. Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lela E. Jackson were conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of the Bailey Mortuary with Rev. Gene F. Wilson officiating. Music was by Mrs. Mary Rowe at the organ.
Pallbearers were Charles Hare Jr., Bruce Hare, Fred Hare, Russell Hare, Brice Jackson and Bruce Jackson. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
