Moses was born to David Frederick and Virginia Catherine Baldridge King. He had 9 brothers and sisters Sarah Ann Powell 1882-1959, George Washington 1885-1971, Jessie Franklin 1895-1956, Emily Pepin 1889-1940, Charles Newton 1898-1955, Allen Eliza 1900-1972, Willie 1903-1906, Grover unknown, Leonard Lee 1904-1995.
Moses worked for the railroad along with some of his brothers before he was married and for a short while after his marriage. He farmed and served as a Justice of the Peace for severalyears and also wrote articles for the local newspaper. He played the fiddle and often had dances at his home.
