A homemaker and resident of Plaquemine, she died at 1:15 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, at Plaquemine Manor Nursing Home. She was 85 and a native of Brusly McCall. Visiting at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Plaquemine, on Monday, Feb. 7, from 9 a.m. until Rite of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., conducted by Deacon Alfred Ricard. Interment in Grace Memorial Park. Survived by a son and two daughters-in-law, T-Paul and Pattie Acosta, and Anne Ockmand Acosta; sister, Mary Lee Lewis; two brothers, Albert Lopez Jr. and Gus Lopez Sr.; sister-in-law, Florence Lopez; brother-in-law, Matthew Banker; six grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Joseph D. Acosta Sr.; parents, Albert and Leotine Boudreaux Lopez; son, Joseph D. Acosta Jr.; and numerous sisters and brothers.
