She was born Sept. 18, 1899 at Muscatine, IA, to Fredrick and Elizabeth (Lewis) Blickensderfer. She attended Story County country schools and graduated from Colo High School in 1918 and from Cedar Falls Normal Training in 1919.
On March 1, 1922, she was married to Conrad Swanson at Colo. He survives.
They farmed in the Fernald vicinity for 36 years and moved to Nevada in 1965.
Jessie taught in the Story County schools for three years and was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Fernald and the following the closing of that church became a member of Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada. She was active in the Daughters of the American Revolution and in various church functions.
Funeral services will be held, Thursday Aug 30 at 11 a.m. at the Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada, with Rev. John Chadwick officiating. Interment will be in Nevada Cemetery, Nevada.
Survivors include two daughters, Isabel (Mrs. George) Larson of Ames, IA., and Norma Swanson of Des Moines, IA.; four sisters, Ethel (Mrs. William) Shickell of Nevada, Myra Haas and Viola Greiner of Ames, IA., and Bertha Monaghan of Milwaukee, WI; three grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Frank and Glen.
