The family settled on Section 13, Cohoctah Township, where they cultivated one hundred and sixty acres of land, and this was their home until Wolfgang G.'s death on December 7, 1876. He was sixty-seven years old at the time of his demise, and Margrett survived him for seven years, dying April 14, 1883. They were both members of the Lutheran Church, and possessed of unostentatious [sic] Christian characters.

Margrett is buried in Deer Creek Cemetery, Livingston, MI next to her husband.
