FORMER FLORID RESIDENT DIES After BRIEF ILLNESS

Death due to heart trouble, preceded by indigestion, came suddenly to Lorin D. Cassell of Toluca, formerly a resident of Florid, on July 6th. On July 5th Mr. Cassell was picking cherries and in some unknown way fell from the barrel, which he was standing, on injuring his knee seriously. He was taken to the Streator hospital, where it required 30 stitches to close the wound. After the operation the knee healed nicely and he was taken to his home on Friday. Sunday many of his friends stopped to converse with him, when later he complained of feeling ill and asked to be taken in the house where he passed away within a short time. Lorin D. Cassell was the son of August and Ellen Cassell (Murphy) was born at Florid, December 13, 1869, being at the time of his death, 55 years and 7 months old. In the year 1898 at Decatur, he was united in marriage to Miss Jossie Redman and this union was blessed by one son, who with the bereaved wife, are left to mourn his untimely death. When a small boy his father died, and later his mother remarried, who with his step-father, three sisters and two brothers survive, Mrs. Flora Pierson of Sterling; Mrs. Ira Price of Tampico, and Mrs. Delia Mathis of Rock Falls, and two brothers, William and Sidney of Oliver, Michigan. Mr. Cassell for the past thirty years had conducted a grocery and meat market in Toluca. During these years he had formed a wide acquaintance of loyal friends who hold him in highest esteem. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, July 16, at 2:30 at the Christian church, Rev. Hedrick officiating, after which the remains were laid to rest in Antioch cemetery. The Rutland lodge of Masons, of which the deceased was a member, had charge of the funeral.
