WATERBURY — Clonsie A. Reddick, 96, formerly of 5 Wood St., widow of Robert H. Reddick, passed away at Grove Manor Nursing Home on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011.

She was born Nov. 2, 1914, in Mebane, N.C., to the late Samuel and Ida (Florence) Anderson. She grew up on a 212-acre farm in Mebane, N.C. Clonsie attended grammar school in Mebane and later graduated from high school in White Plains, N.Y. She came to Waterbury during World War II to find work and was hired at Scovill Manufacturing. Then she worked at Lerner Dress Shop and later retired from Howland Hughes store. Out of 16 children in her family, she was the last living member.

She was a longtime member of Grace Baptist Church, where she was in charge of fixing the fresh flowers for the pulpit for Sunday services. She was a founding member and past president of the Waterbury Women's Civic League. She was a member of the Mount Olive Senior Center and NAACP.

She leaves three godchildren, Ivy Bennett of Brookfield, Ill., Yvonne (Jackie) Griffin of Columbia, S.C., and Franklin Hunter Jr. of Ansonia; a host of nieces and nephews and several stepgrandchildren. She was predeceased by a stepson, Fredrick Jenkins.

The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Grace Baptist Church, 65 Kingsbury St. A viewing period will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11 a.m. The Reverend Larry C. Green officiating. Burial will be in New Pine Grove Cemetery.
