She and Joseph Scheurer were married Dec 1, 1833.

The jefferson.ilgenweb.net/epidemics.html web site says Yellow fever was an epidemic in the year 1852. Yellow fever is contracted by a mosquito bite and even today, 2012, there is no cure. However, there is a vaccine for prevention. New Orleans in 1852 lost 8,000 lives in late summer when the mosquitos are most prevalent.
