Bill began a career with the Illinois State Police, District 5, Joliet on July 15, 1957 as a trooper. He was promoted on October 16, 1983 and retired at the rank of corporal on July 31, 1983.
He is survived by his wife, Louise and two sons, William J. "Bill" Balek, Jr. and Greg Balek.
