CHOATE Dorothy Etta Choate, 85, passed away April 15, 2007. She retired from Southern Bell after 43 years of service. Dorothy was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Garden Club at Deerwood Country Club. She was known as "the hat lady" for her love of hats and large hat collection. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Lee and Ruby Choate, and a sister, Frances Cobb. Survivors include her sister, Linda Sherry; brothers, Billy Choate and Herbert Choate (Blanche); dear friend for 66 years, Phyllis Murphy; 7 nieces and nephews and 10 great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 20, 2007, at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4115 Hendricks Avenue, with Pastor Chuck Salter officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.
