He was born on Sept. 9, 1908, in Manitowoc County, son of the late Albert and Catherine Nicholay Anhalt. He attended grade schools in Marytown.
On June 16, 1931, he married Veronica Karls at Marytown. She preceded him in death on Sept. 21, 1973.
On Nov. 9, 1974, he married Edna Grumann at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein. He farmed in the town of New Holstein for most of his life and was also employed for the town of New Holstein. He was employed at Kestell Furniture in New Holstein for 17 years, retiring in 1973. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein and the Holy Name Society.
Survivors include his wife, Edna; ten sons, Orville (Dolores), Rural New Holstein; Leo (Elaine) Kiel; Wilfred (Arlene) Marytown; Edward (Clara), New Holstein; Robert (Nina) New Holstein; James (Victricia) Chilton; Joseph , rural New Holstein; Richard (Jean), rural New Holstein; John, Plymouth; Michael (Theresa), Fond du Lac; six daughters, Sylveria (Gerald) Krebsbach, Fond du Lac; Rosemary (Glen) Lindstrom, Tennessee; Valeria (Raymond) Pingel, Chilton; Gloria (Philip) Endries, St. Nazianz, Mary Lou (Orville) Behnke, Brillion; Luella (Thomas) Bender, St. Anna; one step-daughter, Carol (Melvin) Jacobson, New Holstein; one brother, Lando (Pauline) Anhalt, Appleton; 50 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren.
He was preceded n death by one brother, one sister, four grandchildren and one great grandson.
Funeral Mass was at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein, with Msgr. Peter Klauck officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
