Geraldine C. (Gerri) Arrowood of Centerville, formerly of Chillicothe, Ohio passed away at her home Wednesday, February 16, 2011, after an extended illness. She was born Dec. 8, 1932 in Givens Station, Ohio to Esther and Virgil Locke, who precede her in death along with two brothers Virgil Jr, and Ronald; and three sisters, Carolyn Davis, Phyllis Brodess and Ramona Locke.

She is survived by William Arrowood, her devoted husband of sixty years, who lovingly cared for her during her lengthy illness, and one child Pam Howard (Frank) of Centerville. Also mourning her passing are two granddaughters, Ryan Leesman (Mike) of Kettering, Sara Moore (Alex) of Centerville; and great grandson, Teagan Moore of Centerville. Gerrie is survived by her brother, William Locke (Beulah); and two sisters, Madalyn Day (Bob) and Patty Loucks (Howard); numerous nieces and nephews, in addition to many close friends, especially Betty Howard.

Gerrie graduated from the Ohio State School of Cosmetolgy in 1962, and worked as a beautician for several years at her own salon. After closing her business she helped manage the family grocery store in Denver, Ohio.

When she and Bill retired, they began playing bluegrass music. Together with several other musicians in the Chillicothe area they formed a group called Pike¹s Pickers and played at many area nursing facilities and for local events, including playing at the Ohio State Fair.

They also played at their church with the Mt. Tabor strings group.

Since moving to the Centerville area 2 1/2 years ago, Gerrie and Bill started playing bluegrass music at their home at St. Leonard¹s Retirement Community. Gerrie enjoyed meeting everyone who came to jam or listen on music nights. Gerrie belonged to the Mt. Tabor Community Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She loved her family and dearly loved her new great grandson Teagan, her only regret was not getting to see him grow up.

She will be missed for her very dry wit and unique way of seeing things. We love you Mom, and always will.

Visitation will be from Saturday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. and Sunday, 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the Boyer Funeral Home, 125 West Second Street, Waverly, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at BOYER FUNERAL FUNERAL HOME officiated by Rick Hartley, Pastor of Mt. Tabor Community Church.

Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Waverly, Ohio.
