Mr. Charlie Bitner, age 79 of Lovelady, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2005 in the East Texas Medical Center - Tyler. Mr. Bitner was born April 8, 1926 in Houston County and had lived all his lifetime in Lovelady. Mr. Bitner was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II. Mr. Bitner was was retired and had worked as a logging contractor. Mr. Bitner Bitner was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lovelady.
Survivors include his wife Nell Bitner, of Lovelady; children Linda James and husband Tommy, Janie Collier and husband Calvin, Randy Bitner and wife Elaine, James Bitner and wife Sharon, all of Lovelady; grandchildren Kim Smith, Michael James, Molly Abele, Jesse Collier, Travis Bitner, Jacob Bitner, and Brent Bitner; great-grandchildren Douglas Brumble, Chris Thomason and Madelyn James; sisters Olene Langham of Euless, Jack LaRue of Port Neches, Evelyn Faver of Crockett, and Cova Atkins of Lufkin; brother Ray Bitner of Vidor; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceded in death by his parents Arthur Lee and Ella Mitchell Bitner; brothers Elmer Bitner and Lee Bitner; and sister Lucille West.
Funeral services for Mr. Charlie Bitner were held Thursday, May 19, at 10:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church in Lovelady with the Rev. Scott Matthews and Mr. Mitchell Kleckley officiating. Internment followed in the Center Hill Cemetery.
