Marvin Newport, 82, of Albion died at 11:25 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 1991 at Wabash General Hospital in Mt. Carmel.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29 at Ingram Funeral Home in Albion, the Rev. Bill Rucker officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Albion. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28 (today).

Mr. Newport was born Sept. 26, 1908 in Edwards County, the son of Lloyd and Mary (Collins) Newport. He married Zola Smith on May 26, 1927 in Vincennes, and she survives.

He worked for the City of Albion Water Plant from 1945 to the mid-50s, and also worked at Southern Lumber Co. and as a custodian at Citizen's National Bank in Albion.

He was a member of the First Christian Church in Albion and the FCC.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Robert Newport of Woodridge and Gene Newport of Birmingham, Ala.; two foster daughters, Beverly Killen and Patti Campbell of Quincy; one brother, Lloyd Newport of Albion; one sister, Eva Rice of National City, Calif.; nine grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son.
