Died - Lord - at her home in this city October 2, 1897 of paralysis, Louisa Jane, wife of Albert H. Lord age 62 years 2 months and 22 days. Mrs. Lord whose maiden name was Louisa Backus was born in Tompkins county, N.Y., July 11, 1835. When still a child of two years she was taken by her parents to Ohio from whence she came to River Falls in 1856. She was married to Mr. Lord May 12, 1861 and has since made her home in River Falls - a home always open to its friends and characterized by a fine atmosphere of courtesy, high mindedness and womanly force. Two sons Fred and Orin, were born into the home and have since carried its kindly graces and its serious sense of honor into fields of activity where the real test of responsibility has in no wise dimmed the luster of its influence. It is in these sustained traits of character, imparted to her sons and in the constant attachment show for her both by her sons and by her husband that Mrs. Lord's qualities are most sincerely recognized. Her faculties were of a strong type, warm but not familiar and her friendships were of the firmest. Her illness has been of two years duration and in spite of care and medical attendance steadily, beset her to the grave. The funeral was held at the home Monday afternoon at two o'clock. Rev. C. H. McIntosh officiating. River Falls Journal 10-7-1897
