The remains of Frank Elias who died of influenza at Camp Forest, Georgia on November 5, 1918 was brought to Hayfield for a private funeral service at the home northeast of the village.
Frank Eugene Elias was born in Hayfield on July 14, 1896. He was call to the colors on October 23, 1918 and died on November 6th attaining the age of 22 years, 3 months and 23 days. He is survived by his parents, Mrs. and Ms. Albert Elias and two brothers, William and Leon.
Frank was a good and faithful boy and his early demise is indeed a sad blow to friends and relaties. He went cheerfully to join the forces that fought for freedom, sacrificing his own life in the cause.
