Miss Ura Foster, Mangum elementary school teacher for 43 years before her retirement died suddenly at her home Sunday morning, June 30, after several years of ill health.
Services were held at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Church of Christ with W.S. Boyett officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery under the direction Greer Funeral Home.
Born June 7, 1908 at Granite, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.C. Foster, Misss foster had lived in Mangum for about 59 years.
Her interest in youth and the community kept her busy in many fields. She and her twin sister, Ima, ware credited with organizing and carrying on Girl Scouts in Mangum and the district for many years.
She was a charter member of Mangum Business and Professional Women's Club and of Delta Kappa Gamma, honorary fraternity for teachers. She had served as an educational director for Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority for 24 years and was an active member of Sorosis Study Club, Cecilian Music Club and University Women's Club.
Surviving are two sisters, Ima Foster, Mangum, and Helen Anderson, Santa Ana, Calif. and a niece and nephew, Linda Kay and Lee Foster Anderson, also of Santa Ana.
