Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at Fry Memorial Chapel for life time resident of Banta and Tracy, Manuel Amaral. Manuel grew up on a dairy farm in Banta and in his early twenties decided to try his hand at farming; a passion that he continued until his death. Manuel grew a variety of crops and was one of the first local farmers to grow vegetables for seed.

Manuel was a charter member of the Tracy Elk's Lodge, long time Board Member of the original Rhodes Bean and Supply Company, and was currently serving as a Director for the West Side Irrigation District. He and his wife Donna loved traveling and traveled to many places all over the world, visiting six of the seven continents. Manuel was an avid hunter and loved telling stories of his many adventures. He was well known for his sense of humor and loved making people laughed. He will be greatly missed.

Manuel is survived by his wife Donna, four daughters, Annette Borges and her husband Dan of Clements, Roseanne Campbell of Folsom, Sharon Bradshaw of Clovis, and Carol Chouest and her husband Damon of Cut-Off, Louisiana.. He has one surviving sibling, Josephine Foley of Banta. He had six grandchildren, one great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews. Manuel was predeceased by his parents and three sisters, Laura Smith, Marie Cunha, Rose Passetti, and a brother Joseph Amaral. Manuel is also survived by three stepsons, Mike Pereira and his wife MaryAnne of Morgan Hill, John Pereira and his wife Cindy of Tracy, Tom Pereira of Tracy, and a step-daughter Janet Edwards and her husband Stephen of Tracy and Jacksonville, Oregon. He had an additional eight step grandchildren, and seven step great grandchildren.
