From Little Falls Herald, Friday, 14 Jan 1916:

John Zioltkowski of Pike Creek passed away at his home Saturday (8 Jan 1916) from cancer of the stomach, after a long illness. He was 63 years of age. The funeral was held from the Polish Catholic Church at Flensburg on Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock and interment was in the church cemetery.

Pomeranian Genealogical Association online records provided the following, in very good agreement with 1900 census data from Pike Creek Township where this family settled, likely soon after immigrating from Poland during 1889.

The following records are all from Konarzyny Parish, Chojnice County, Pomorskie, Poland. A number of other Polish families from that area also settled near Flensburg.

This person, baptized Johann Simon. was born during 1852 to Johann Zoltkowski and Marianna Lemanczik (Note: Zołtkowski was the Polish record spelling rather than Zioltowski used by this family in the United States. It was a common surname in that Parish.)

His wife, Marianna Rosalia was born during 1852 to Albrecht Sroka & Victoria Wirkus. The couple was married in Konarzyny Parish during 1880.

The order of their children baptized there was Felix Johann during 1881, Jacob Johann during 1882, Joseph during 1884, Leo Johann during 1886 and Theodore Andreas during 1888. The first child born in MN (Pike Creek TS) was Cyril during 1883 followed by John during 1884 and Francis Joseph during 1887.

In addition, John and Mary adopted the child Agnes. born Jan 1895 to neighbors Martin and Frances Wielinski, also from Konarzyny Parish. Frances died in childbirth and Martin died seven weeks later. John and Mary's adopted (and only) daughter Agnes is buried at Memorial ID 84401602.
