Carl E. Burkhalter, 84, of Columbus, GA, passed away peacefully Monday, February, 14, 2011 at home with his family by his side.
Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, February 17, 2011 in Parkhill Cemetery with Reverend Watson McKemie officiating.
Mr. Burkhalter was born October 20, 1926, in Emanuel County, GA, son of the late Annie Rebecca and Martin Luther Burkhalter. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II and served as a gunner on the USS Wisconsin. Mr. Burkhalter retired from Toledo Scale Company and Civil Service at Ft. Benning, GA. He was also a member of Evangel Temple Assemblies of God.
Survivors include his wife, Janet Johnson Burkhalter of Columbus, GA; five sons, David C. Burkhalter of Box Springs, GA, Edward Allen Burkhalter and Denise of Columbus, GA, Charles M. Burkhalter and Dorothy of Sarasota, FL, R. Scott Burkhlater of Columbus, GA, Kent R. Burkhalter and Candace of Columbus, GA; two daughters, Lynda B. Moore of Castle Rock, CO, and Bonnie B. Ashmore and Jeff of Cataula, GA; 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
