Obituary, The Norman Transcript, February 21, 2011
Andrew Louis Olson, age 89 of Lexington, passed away Saturday, February 19, 2011 in Norman. He was born on September 22, 1921, in Lexington on the same family farm where he lived until his passing. He was an only child born to Victor Olson and Ethel Alice (Wall) Olson. Andrew grew up a farm boy living northeast of Lexington. He attended the Willow View country school until the seventh grade when he took over farming his family's farm. Andrew later married Thelma Marie Parsons. They were married on January 4, 1941 in Purcell and together raised three children. Andrew worked hard throughout his entire life as a farmer and rancher on the same farm he was raised on. When hard times hit the family farm, Andrew found a way to supplement his income by teaching himself how to weld. For many years he owned and operated a pipe and wire fences building business. He was sought after by many a rancher and farmer to build their corrals, feed lots and horse ranches. After Thelma passed away in 1983, Andrew remarried in 1985, marrying Oakley Moody.

Andrew was a longtime member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Norman. After he retired he enjoyed going to the local senior citizens centers where he made many friends and he learned how to dance.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Ethel Olson, and his wife of 42 years, Thelma Olson. He is survived by three children, including sons Alvin Olson and wife Chessteen of Lexington; Carl Olson and wife Diane of Jefferson City, Mo.; and his daughter Carolyn Olson Cole of Lexington. He also is suvived by six grandchildren, Shelley, Patti, Landon, Justin, Robert and Matthew, and 11 great-grandchildren. Andrew also was survived by two stepsons, Glen and Joe Moody, and their families. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Norman. Interment will be at the Lexington Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are by Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.
