The deceased was a former merchant, having operated stores in various sections of Carroll county, and at one time operated a small store in Mounty Airy, N. C., and also formerly operated a store in Leaksvile, N. C.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Maude Allen; two daughters, Mrs. Louise Bolen, Greensboro, N. C., and Mrs. Frances Weddle, Burlington, N. C., and the son, Wilbur. One brother, Garland P. Allen, Galax, also survives, as do a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at Five Forks church, near Hillsville, on Wednesday afternoon, the 7th, and interment was in the Bolen cemetery, near Hillsville.
