LESTER CRABILL MILLER was born in Shenandoah County, Maurertown, VA the son of John William Miller and Sarah Eunice Wotring Miller. His middle name was Crabill which was taken from his maternal grandmother's maiden name, Margaret Elizabeth Crabill Wotring. The farm he grew up on near Maurertown was originally a part of his great grandfather Jonathan Stribling Crabill's estate.

The John William Miller Family were Lutherans and Lester was baptized at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Toms Brook on March 27, 1910 by Rev. L. L. Smith, D.D. and attended public schools in Shenandoah County, Virginia at Maurertown School and Woodstock.

He was the first of five children born to his parents:
1) LESTER
2) Marcella F. Miller (the only daughter in the family only lived from Sep 15, 1908 to Sep 3, 1909 and is buried in the Miller plot at Toms Brook Cemetery)
3) Forrest Benjamin Miller (1911-2003) is buried with his second wife, Isabella, in Otterbein Shaker Cemetery, Warren County, Ohio.
4) Loyal Emory Miller (1913-1970) and his wife, Elizabeth, are buried at Union Forge Cemetery in Edinburg, VA, Shenandoah County.
5) John William Miller, Jr. (1916-1975)and his wife, Eunice, are buried at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Woodstock, in Shenandoah County, VA.

LESTER MILLER married Flora MYRTLE Combs in Montclair, Essex County, NJ on April 27, 1928. Myrtle was born in Kentucky, the daughter of Walker Combs and Margaret Estes "Maggie" Combs. The family moved to Middletown, Butler County, Ohio where her parents are buried. Lester and Myrtle's marriage was blessed with two daughters, Dorothy and Inez, whom they both adored.

Lester lived most of his adult life in Frederick County, Winchester, VA where his daughters attended Winchester City Public Schools. He worked for American Viscose Corporation in Front Royal, VA until his retirement. He moved to Albin just outside of Winchester in his latter years until his death.
