Amelia E. Hoffman, 89, formerly of York and Glen Rock, died Sunday, February 20, 2011, at the Masonic Village at Elizabethtown. She was the wife of Ronald F. Hoffman, to whom she was married 66 years.

Amelia was born July 10, 1921, in Centerville, York County, to the late Oscar Lee and Mamie Lucinda (Kroh) Richey.

She graduated from Codorus High School in 1938 and was employed at the former Hershey Department Store from 1938 to 1940. She was later employed as a time keeper at the former AMP, Inc. at both its Glen Rock and Jacobus plants, and retired from the Jacobus plant in 1983 following 20 years of service. She was a volunteer with the Girl Scouts, was an avid bowler, enjoyed traveling, was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Glen Rock, and always looked forward to visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Amelia is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Whitall and her husband, Jim of Willingboro, N.J., and Jane Smith and her husband, Eugene of Richmond, Va.; four grandchildren, Melanie Schott and her husband, William, Christopher Whitall and his wife, Danielle, Benjamin Smith and his wife, Virginia, and Jessica Smith; and seven great grandchildren, Mariah Spinelli, Jenna Schott, Grace Schott, Hannah Smith, Catherine Smith, Connor Whitall and Camryn Whitall. She is also survived by numerous relatives.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother and eight sisters.

Interment in Mount Rose Cemetery, York.
