Harold Eugene Collins, 53, well known Muncie man, 740 N. Walnut, died early this morning at Ball Hospital following an extended illness.

He was born in Muncie, graduated from Muncie Central High School, and attended Indiana Business College. He served with the U.S. Army Engineer Corps in both the European and Pacific theatres during World War II and was discharged with the rank of 1st Lieutenant.

Mr. Collins was employed at Warner Gear Corporation prior to his illness. During the administration of Mayor H. Arthur Tuhey, he was superintendent of Muncie city parks. At one time he served as precinct 5 committeeman. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene, Moose Lodge 33, Eagles Lodge 231, Warner Gear Sympathy Club, and Warner Gear Golf League. He was also a member of Camp Crosley Alumni Association.

Surviving are his wife, Georgia Whitaker Collins; a son, Duane M. Collins; a step-son, Mason Napier; his father, Frank Collins; a sister, Mrs. Mildred Bartlett; two brothers, Glenn and Frederick Collins; and three grandchildren.

Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at First Nazarene Church with Rev. Verdean Owens officiating. Interment will be in Beech Grove at 10 a.m. Monday.
Friends may call at the Meeks Mortuary from 1-4 and from 7-9 p.m. Saturday.
