Joseph Marshall "Hooker" Millay, 82, of 717 Danberry St., Owensboro, died Friday, Oct. 2, 2009, at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Ind. He was born in Knottsville to the late Joseph and Georgia (Long) Millay. He retired in 1987 as a machinist from Whirlpool after 40 years. A wonderful family man, Mr. Millay was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church. He loved Yankees baseball and liked hunting. His wife, Dorothy Millay, preceded him in death on June 13, 1999, as well as brothers Bill and Frank Millay and a sister, Jonell Booker. Surviving are his children, Becky Millay of Lexington, Gary Millay, Kennetha (Greg) Waninger, Janie Coomes and Stacy (Hugh) Willis, all of Owensboro; grandchildren Aimee Rives, Kim Luckett, Jason Luckett, Nick Waninger, Nathan Waninger, Natalie Clatterbuck, Kristen Hayden, Jordan Coomes, Jennifer Jones and Matt Willis; a sister, Rhodie Melton of Knottsville; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Monday at Precious Blood Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation is from 1 to 5 p.m. today, with prayers at 5 p.m., and after 8:30 a.m. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Alzheimer's Association.
