EDWIN JAY BRIGGS - SHREWSBURY
Edwin J. Briggs, 77, died Tuesday at a Rutland nursing home after a long illness. He was born in Pittsford Sept. 5, 1892, son of Edwin James and Minnie Susan (Baker) Briggs.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Jane Susan Carter and Mrs. Betty Ruth Pelkey, both of Rutland; three sons, Edward James Briggs of Shrewsbury, Merrill Patrick Briggs of Pittsford and Herbert Roy Brings of Marshfield, NY; two brothers Edgert Raymond Briggs of Proctor and Harold Elmer Briggs of Planville CT; two sisters Mrs. Jane Mae Powers and Mrs. Helen West, both of Bristol, CT; 17 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Barnard Funeral Home in Pittsford. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Pittsford, at a later date.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
