Bernice Opal Hudson,, 83, Topeka, died Tuesday, May 16, 1995, at a Topeka nursing home. Mrs. Hudson worked for the Kansas treasurer's office from 1943 until she retired in 1976.

She was born Jan. 2, 1912, in McLouth, the daughter of Albert and Ella Lawless Petitt. She attended Strickler's Business College. Mrs. Hudson was a member of Oakland Church of the Nazarene.

She was married to Olie W. Hudson in 1948 in Topeka. He died April 8, 1978. Survivors include two sons, Stanley Strimple, Richmond, Ill., and Larry Strimple, Topeka; a sister, Mable Ackerly, Warsaw, Mo.; six grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Oakland Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be at memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Hudson will lie in state after noon today at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kansas Heart Association, 5375 S.W. 7th, Topeka, 66606.
