Obituary: "Gerald I. Ness, 67" of Columbia Falls, died Wednesday morning in North Valley Hospital. He was born October 30, 1919 in Tacoma, Washington…a son of Edward and Nellie Ness. He received his schooling in Kila and Kalispell. Mr. Ness was an electrician most of his life and served in the Armed Services during World War II. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge, American Legion, Disabled American, Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Elks Lodge and the Moos Lodge. He was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Ness, wife, Marion, a son, Ricky and a daughter, Tracy. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann, a stepson, John Jellison, two step daughters, Mrs. Rod (Debbie) Pierce, and Mrs. Wayne (Susan) Smith, all of the Flathead Valley; two brothers, Ervin Ness and Fred Ness, both in California: two sisters; Mrs. Roger (Blanche) Michels and Mrs. Ernest (Lil) Freebury, both of Kalispell and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Johnson Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Buchanan of First Baptist Church of Columbia Falls officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery with military honors conducted by local veteran's organizations. The family suggests memorials to Northwest Montana Museum, c/o Lil Freebury, 209 Hawthorne, Kalispell, MT 59901.
