Edward Lewis Adair passed away at the Brown County Living & Community Center in Nashville, Indiana, two days after his 86th birthday. He had been ill for several years. He was the son of Edward L. Adair Sr. and Eileen (Pointer) Adair. Edward attended Wabash College and Indiana University, where he ran track and was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and earned several medals. He loved everything about auto racing — midgets, sprints, Indy and NASCAR — and was very active forming several midget associations. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Gene and Jim; and his wife, Jane Stith Adair. Survivors include a son, Robert Adair of Nashville, Indiana; a daughter, Linda (Adair) Koch of Bloomington; a grandson, Zachary Koomler of Nashville, Indiana, and granddaughter Lauren Adair-Horace of Bloomington, Indiana. A benefit concert took August 21st at Bushman's Brewhouse, with the White Lightning Boys and special guests. A celebration of life service was held August 31st at Union Jack's Pub in Speedway, Indiana. from 6 to 9 p.m. Graveside service were conducted September 1, 2010 at Crown Hill Cemetery where he was interred next to his wife.
