Obituary:
LOWELL - Melvin O. Amelung, 76, of Lowell died Feb. 5, 2000, at his home. He was born July 3, 1924, in Washington, MO., to Otto and Margaret Voss Amelung.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Rogers. He had lived in Northwest Arkansas since 1986.
Survivors include his wife, Eileen Wathern Amelung of the home; five sons, Dennis Amelung and Robert Amelung, both of St. Louis, Mo., Lester Amelung of Grovetown, Ga., William Erwin of Pineville, Mo., Jay Erwin of Belleville, Ill.; three daughters, Constance Hempe of St. Louis, Charleene Nordsell of Lowell, Maraleen Erwin of Knoxville, Tenn.; two brothers, Jim Amelung and Vernon Amelung, both of St. Louis; two sisters, Betty Kaiser and Margaret Storm both of St. Louis; 23 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 9 a.m. today at Grace United Methodist Church in Rogers with Don Hall officiating, under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home of Rogers. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Renners Funeral Home in Belleville.
Graveside services and entombment will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Valhalla Burial Park in Belleville.
Memorials may be made to the Grace United Methodist Church, Sunday School Dept.,
