Paul "Larry" Swartzle Battle Creek Paul "Larry" Swartzle, 70, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at the Battle Creek Health System after a short illness. He was born November 3, 1939 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania the son of Simon and June (Harman) Swartzle. Following his graduation in 1957 from Lakeview High School, he joined the U.S. Air Force serving from August 15, 1957 until August 14, 1961. He then began working at the Kellogg Company while attending Western Michigan University from which he earned his Bachelors Degree. He worked as a sales and marketing executive for Kellogg's, Stokely VanCamp, James River Corporation, Comstock Michigan Fruit and retired from Conrad Patterson and Associates in Grand Rapids. Larry was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, an avid golfer and a huge fan of all sports, especially Lakeview High School. Larry loved spending time with friends and family and enjoyed life to its fullest. On May 2, 1964 he married the love of his life, Jeanne M. (Calhoun) Find-A-Grave # 65718966, who preceded him in death on January 6, 2002. He was also preceded by a brother, Joseph Swartzle. Surviving are two children: Joseph (Laura) Swartzle of Vernon Hills, IL and Stacey (Jon) Robinson of Okemos; two grandchildren: Maxwell and Sophie Robinson; brother: Charles Swartzle and sister: Patricia VandenHeede both of Battle Creek; several nieces and nephews. The funeral mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with interment to follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association S.W. Michigan Chapter.
