Cortland Standard June 1974 (found at the Cortland Historical Society) Mr. Allen was born August 8, 1936, in Cortland, the son of Winifred Muncy Allen and the late Robert J. Allen. He was a self-employed mason and was a member of the Cortland Eagles Club and the Solon Rod and Gun Club. Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, Beverly Myers Allen of McGraw; six children, three brothers, James L. Allen of East Freetown and Francis Gerald and Thomas E. Allen, both of Cortland; one sister, Barbara Batsford of Watertown; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home with the Rev. Darrell Westlake officiating. Interment will be in Taylor Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
