Funeral services for James A. Ford, 79, of Sulphur Springs have been scheduled for noon Monday, Feb. 28, 2011, at Martin Luther King Church of Christ with Bro. Valanderous Bell officiating.
Burial will follow in Mel Haven Cemetery with Jermain Cleveland, Clifton Cleveland Jr., Jeramie McGill, Broderick Godbolt, Dwight Alford Ford and Roderick Godbolt serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include L.J. Wade, Henry Ford Jr., Pastor Dennis Ford, Elmer Dial, R.V. Barnett, Lonnie Ford, Eldon Ford, James Sharper, Paul Sharper and A.B. Wade Sr.

No visitation has been scheduled.

Mr. Ford passed away on Feb. 20, 2011, in Sulphur Springs.

James Arley Ford was born Nov. 14, 1931, in Hopkins County, the son of the late Jess and Pauline Durham Ford.

He resided during his adult years in Wichita Falls, and later moved to Dallas, where he was united in marriage to Dorothy Childes Cleveland in April of 1987. She survives.

Mr. Ford attended school in the North Caney community. He made his career as a maintenance worker in the Dallas area. After moving back to Sulphur Springs, he worked at Sulphur Springs Nursing Home and later Woodhaven Nursing home. He was a member of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his sons, Clifton Cleveland Jr. and wife, Marsha, of Dallas and Jermain Cleveland and wife, Yolanda of Sulphur Springs; one daughter, Felicia Stephens of Dallas; grandchildren Brittany Ford of Oakland, Calif., Jasmine and Tredarion Stephens of Dallas, Trondamion, Jalik and Jermain Cleveland of Sulphur Springs, and Morris, Alexis and Jasmine Cleveland of Dallas; four great-grandchildren; one brother, John D. Ford and wife, Doris Ann, of Wichita Falls; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son, Arland Ford; four sisters; and six brothers.
