James Ray Kerby
James Ray Kerby, 57, lifelong Abilene resident died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001, at his home. Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday in Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Oscar Fanning officiating, directed by Elliott-Mamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.

Mr Kerby was born June 12, 1944 in Abilene. He was a mechanic, having worked for Northrup's Auto Service and Smith Transmission. He married Cecile Flanigan July 16, 1976 in Abilene. He was a Protestant and a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of American Legion Post 0345.

He was preceded in death by two sons, James Ray Kerby Jr., and Brody James Kerby; and his father, James Walter Kerby.

Survivors include his wife, Cecile Kerby of Abilene; a son, Russell Kerby of Abilene; his mother, Martha Kerby of Abilene; and a grandson.

Memorials may be made to Children's Medical Center of Dallas, 1935 Motor St., Dallas, TX 75235; Ronald McDonald House of Dallas, 5641 Medical Center Dr.,Dallas, TX 75235; or Hendrick Hospital Care, P.O. Box 1922, Abilene, TX 79604.
