William H. Sleek, Retired Carman, Dies at 73 years
William Hiram Sleek, 73, of 801 South Ijams street, Garrett, a retired B&O carman, died at his home Sunday 9:30 p.m. of hardening of the lungs. He had been ill several years.
The body was taken to the Geo. W. Iler mortuary and it will be returned to the residence Monday evening. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Garrett Church of Christ. L.K. Layman minister, will officiate and burial will follow in Union Cemetery, northwest of Garrett.
Mr. Sleek was born Sept. 1, 1871 at Albion and he had been a resident of Garrett for 27 years. He and Mary Louise Lock were married in 1897.
Surviving besides the widow are six daughters, Mrs. Adella Brown of Mishawaka, Mrs. Edna Byanski of Springfield, O., Mrs. Clara Goldenetz of Defiance, Mrs. Rubie King and Mrs. Devilla [DeVella] DeWitt of Auburn and Mrs. Mary Harber of 107 South Peters street, Garrett; three sons, Coysey [Cloysey] Sleek of Lima, O., Claude Sleek of Detroit and Dale Sleek of 104 South Peters street, Garrett; 21 granchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Sleek was a member of the United Brethren church of Albion.
