Mildred Neill Keating Adams passed away Friday, Feb. 25, 2011, at the age of 95.

Mildred was born March 29, 1915, on a farm west of Hamilton, Kan., to John Neill and Alma Boydston Neill. She graduated from rural District 89 grade school and in 1933 from Hamilton High School.

She was married to Robert J. Keating. Two children were born to this union, Rozella and Donald Joe. They resided in the Burkett oilfield for several years, then in Emporia, Kan., where Mildred worked for J. C. Penny's. Later she and Denman D. Adams of Council Grove, Kan., were married. They lived in Council Grove for several years, then moved to Clinton, Okla., where they owned and operated the Western Motel. Mildred really enjoyed the motel and the people that she met there. After the death of Mr. Adams she moved back to Emporia, Kan., and later to Ponca City.

Mildred enjoyed socializing, was an excellent cook and homemaker, did all kinds of crafts and loved dancing. She was an animal lover and especially loved cats and Cocker Spaniel dogs.

She was a member of the Methodist Church.

Mildred is survived by her daughter Rozella Brown and son-in-law B. J. Brown of Ponca City; son, Donald Joe Keating of Kansas City, Kan.; granddaughter, Christi Keating Mize; grandsons, Jeff, Greg and Brad Keating and David and Danny Brown; four great-granddaughters and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Den Adams; and one grandson, Mark Brown.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, at the Greenwood Cemetery near Eureka, Kan. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
