Funeral services for John J. "Jack" Kratzmeyer, 80, of Granger, Ind., will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, at St. Emily Catholic Church, 1400 E. Central Rd., Mount Prospect.

Born Jul. 31, 1923, in Chicago, the son of John and Honore (nee Fitzgerald) Kratzmeyer, he passed away on Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003, at the Hospice House in South Bend. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines.

Mr. Kratzmeyer was a veteran of the Coast Guard and worked as a mechanical engineer for many years. He married the former Nicolina Guzzetta on Nov. 10, 1951. He was a longtime member of St. Emily Catholic Church in Mount Prospect.

Jack is survived by his wife, Nicolina of South Bend; his daughters, Pam Jarrett of Granger, Ind. and Ellen Kratzmeyer of Ingleside, Ill.; his son, Jack Kratzmeyer of Chicago; his grandchildren, Corey, Kevin, Steven, Kaitlin, John, Annie, Michael, John and Hayley; and his sister, Florence Steffen of Carmichael, Calif.

Jack was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ellen Karlson.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services, at the church. Memorials may be made in Mr. Kratzmeyer's name, to the St. Vincent De Paul Society. Arrangements were made by the Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, South Bend.
