Edgar Lewis Baxter, 73 of Rohnerville, died suddenly Tuesday morning at his home. Born August 25, 1890, in Carlotta, he had been a life-time resident of the county and of Rohnerville the past 46 years. He had been employed for over 20 years as a saw-filer, last working for the Holmes Eureka company. He had been retired for the past 10 years. He was a member and Past Grand of Eel River lodge 210, IOOF, of Rohnerville Rebekah lodge 81, member of Myrtle Encampment: of Ferndale, and a member of the Veteran Oddfellows of California.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs Gladys F. Baxter, Rohnerville; daughter, Mrs Florene Roberts, Fortuna; son, Delmar Lewis Baxter, Alturas; grandchildren, Shirley and Edgar Roberts, Fortuna, and Ruth and Charles Baxter, Alturas; one great-grandchild, Richard Roberts, Fortuna: and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, 8 p,m. in the chapel of Goble's Fortuna Mortuary with the Rev. Ray F. Magnuson officiating. Interment: will follow in the family section of Hydesville cemetery. Services are under the auspices of Eel River lodge 210, IOOF.
Pallbearers will be Robert Look, David Thomsen, James Christensen, Melvin Smith, George Allen and James Bellomi.
