James was the son of John and Georgia A. Borders Hobdy. James married first Pearl Marr on November 27, 1906 and second Elizabeth Gregory on December 14, 1935, he had three known children. Ethel Nadine Hobdy was born August 11, 1915 to James Brady and Pearl Marr Hobdy, she married Otis W. Wetherford on November 23, 1933 in Allen County Kentucky.
