Burley V. Moon, son of Hester J. and Benjamin H. Moon, was born August 27, 1876 in Tama county, Iowa, near Marshalltown, and passed away at his home in Eagle Grove Monday, August 10, 1931, at 10:40 a.m., having reached the age of 54 years, 11 months and 13 days. He was united in marriage at Fort Dodge, Iowa, Oct. 4, 1906 to Mrs. Emma Cox of Webster City, Iowa. They are the parents of one son, Arthur H. Moon of Eagle Grove. Mr. and Mrs. Moon lived in Fort Dodge for a few years after their marriage finally moving to Eagle Grove where they have since resided. For several years Mr. Moon was employed on the city police force. The past six years he has been working with a highway construction company until failing health caused him to return to his home on August 2, 1930. After consulting physicians he entered the university hospital at Iowa City, Sept. 8 where he received treatment for a month. He returned home, but on Nov. 11, 1930 again entered the hospital where he remanied and was operated on Jan. 12, 1931, He returned to his home in Eagle Grove March 21 and has been confined to his bed these many months, a sufferer of cancer. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Mrs. Emma Moon and son, Arthur, his mother, Mrs. Hester Moon, two sisters, Mrs. Cora Buswell of Riceville, Ia., Mrs. Hattie Jones of Goldfield; two brothers, Jesse Moon and Dennis Moon of Eagle Grove; one half-brother, Add Moon of Erie, Kansas; also two step-sons, Myron Cox of Eagle Grove and Ralph Cox of Clarion, besides many other relatives and friends, Mr. Moon is preceded in death by his father, one brother, one sister and one half-sister, all of whom passed away several years ago.

Funeral services were held from the Kubitschek & Kastler funeral parlors Wednesday at two o'clock, August 12, with Rev. J. G. Eaton in charge. Burial was made in Rose Hill cemetery.
