He was born Feb. 15, 1935 in Carolina, W.Va., and was the son of the late John Lewis and Gladys Hahn Loren.
He retired after 25 years as a maintenance painter for the Chrysler Corporation. He had attended Timberville Church of the Nazarene and served in the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia King Loren. He is survived by his second wife, the former Kathrine Arbogast Barkley.
Also surviving are two sons, John Loren of Timberville, and Robert L. Loren Jr. of Stephens City; a sister; Vivian Hulderman of Warren, Mich.; four grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Todd Thomas will conduct a funeral service Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Grandle Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow at the Linville Creek Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the
Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.
