Roy Edwin Arkley
June 19, 1923 - Feb. 17, 2011
Born to Sidney ad Annie Arkley in Minneapolis, Minn., Roy was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 48 years, Athula; his brother, Bill; and sister, Mary. He is survived by five nephews; one niece; and several great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews.
After serving in the Army, Roy started an appliance repair business in Glendale, Calif. He worked for Sears over 15 years in Santa Maria, then remained there, where he and Athula enjoyed their retirement.
Roy happily spent his last three years in Placerville at Gold Country Assisted Living, where he loved interacting with residents, staff and family. Known to many as "Uncle Roy," his songs and funny ditties were always a delight. His hugs and cheery attitude will be greatly missed.
A private ceremony will be held at Guadalupe Beach in Santa Barbara County.
